The Sacred Heart of Jesus Novena

The Sacred Heart of Jesus novena begins today. During these nine days we invite you to discover the magnificence of his love and to let yourself be renewed by Him.

To the members and friends of Regnum Christi, we also invite you to accept our general directors’ proposal to celebrate the next Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, June 28, 2019, in thanksgiving for the establishment of the Regnum Christi Federation and the approval of its Statutes.

Day 1 He loved us first

His self-sacrifice on the cross is so great that we can never repay it, but only receive it with immense gratitude and with the joy of being more greatly loved than we could ever imagine.Christus Vivit 121

Today let us contemplate the gratuitous and undeserved love that Sacred Heart of Jesus has for us, a heart that’s in love, always young—a Heart that renews the hearts of men, of the Church, of Regnum Christi … of all those who let themselves be touched by Him.

Day 2 He loved us until the end

Christ, out of love, sacrificed himself completely in order to save you. His outstretched arms on the cross are the most telling sign that he is a friend who is willing to stop at nothing. Christus Vivit 118

“The same Christ who saved us from our sins by his cross today continues to save and redeem us by the power of his total self-surrender. Look at his cross, cling to him, let him save you, for ‘those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness.’ Evangelii Gaudium 1, Christus Vivit 119

Day 3 A love that does not humiliate or enslave

“His is a love that does not overwhelm or oppress, cast aside or reduce to silence, humiliate or domineer. It is the love of the Lord, a daily, discreet and respectful love; a love that is free and freeing, a love that heals and raises up. The love of the Lord has to do more with raising up than knocking down, with reconciling than forbidding, with offering new changes than condemning, with the future than the past.Christus Vivit 116

The heart of Jesus is meek, humble and merciful. Let yourself be conquered by his love. Rest in his arms and let him fill you with his gentleness and kindness.

Day 4 The love of the Lord is greater than all of our paltry concerns

Yet it is precisely through our problems, frailties and flaws that he wants to write this love story. He embraced the prodigal son, he embraced Peter after his denials, and he always, always, always embraces us after every fall, helping us to rise and get back on our feet.Christus Vivit 120

Sacred Heart of Jesus, give us humble hearts that do not fear to approach your heart so that you can heal their wounds because your grace is able to enter through our brokenness. May your patience and kindness always encourage us to return to you, to rise from our falls, and renew our lives.

Day 5 Christ lives and wants you to be alive

Christ is alive! He is our hope, and in a wonderful way he brings youth to our world, and everything he touches becomes young, new, full of life.Christus Vivit 1

Jesus, God incarnate, has a human heart that beats with love for all people and fills the Church with life. Let yourself be touched by Him! Cling to Him! Let him be your way, your truth and your life. -John 14:6

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart

Day 6 Look at the open arms of Christ crucified, let yourself be saved again and again

And when you go to confess your sins, believe firmly in his mercy which frees you of your guilt. Contemplate his blood poured out with such great love, and let yourself be cleansed by it. In this way, you can be reborn ever anew.Christus Vivit 123

From the open heart of Christ spring forth the blood of the new covenant—poured out for our salvation, and the water of baptism. Let us immerse ourselves in Christ, the font of living water, to quench the thirst of our hearts and reach eternal life.

Day 7 Mary shines in the heart of the Church

She is the supreme model for a youthful Church that seeks to follow Christ with enthusiasm and docility (...) From her, we learn how to say ‘yes’ to the stubborn endurance and creativity of those who, undaunted, are ever ready to start over again. Christus Vivit 43, 45

Let us ask Mary, the woman of the “yes” to support us and accompany us, and that like her, we will always have a soul available to welcome the Will of God.

Day 8 Evil does not have the last word. Christ has conquered it.

Evil does not have the last word. Nor will it have the last word in your life, for you have a friend who loves you and wants to triumph in you. Your Savior lives.Christus Vivit 126

The cross is the throne of love from which the Sacred Heart reigns. On it, the supreme sacrifice of love was consummated, in which God, being everything, was made nothing for us. On it, good was victorious over sin and life over death. Rejoice today with the triumphant Jesus and let him be the one who has the last word in your life.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart

Day 9 See how they love one another

The Holy Spirit fills the heart of the risen Christ and then flows over into your lives. When you receive the Spirit, he draws you ever more deeply into the heart of Christ, so that you can grow in his love, his life and his power.Christus Vivit 130

True youth is having a heart capable of love. Jesus, himself eternally young, wants to give us hearts that are forever young.Christus Vivit 13

Let us pray that the fire of the Holy Spirit renew our hearts by clothing them them in love, which is the bond of perfection. -Colossians 3:14

Prayer to Say Each Day

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART

Oh, Jesus! I consecrate my heart to you. Place it in yours because I want to live only in your heart, and I want to love it alone. In your Heart I want to live detached from the world and attached to You. In your Heart I will find strength, light, warmth and true consolation. When my heart is weak, yours will revive me; when restless and troubled, your Heart will calm me.

Oh Heart of Jesus! Make my heart the altar of your love; may my tongue proclaim your kindness, may my eyes always be fixed on you; may my spirit meditate on your wonderful perfections; may my memory always preserve the precious recollection of your mercies; O Jesus, may everything in me express my love for your Heart, and may my heart be always ready to sacrifice everything for You.

O Heart of Mary, the most kind, most compassionate, most merciful of all hearts after that of Jesus, present my consecration, my love, and my resolutions to your Son. He will be moved at the sight of so many miseries and will free me from them. And, after having been my refuge and my protector on earth, O Mother of Jesus, you will be my Queen in Heaven. Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus!

I trust in you!

Oh Sweet Heart of Mary!

Be my salvation!
